What an event! Our Scandio colleagues had an inspiring time at Atlassian Team 24 in Barcelona. Atlassian revealed some exciting new features designed to boost team collaboration and efficiency. From AI-powered tools to enhanced service management capabilities, there is a lot to explore.

We explain the key innovations presented by Atlassian and share our insights what this means for your business.

Atlassian Team 24 Europe took place beginning of October in Barcelona

Enhanced service experience with Jira Service Management

One of the most notable updates from Atlassian Team 24 Europe was the improved Jira Service Management (JSM).

Atlassian introduced multilingual virtual service agents that now support chat conversations in a number of channels. This means that the JSM virtual service agent, which automates support requests in Slack, is now also available on the help center, Microsoft Teams, email, and an embeddable widget for external customer support. These new features allow global teams to provide seamless support in multiple languages, enhancing the customer experience.

Additionally, JSM’s asset management capabilities have been expanded through the new Data Manager feature. It enables users to connect to multiple data sources and then cleanse and reconcile this data. This way users can ensure data is complete, current and correct. Atlassian also highlighted Rovo, its AI-powered tool that integrates new services into JSM, making it easier to manage service operations.

These updates deliver a more efficient and unified service management experience for teams across industries.

Atlassian put a heavy focus on AI, notably its solution Rovo

Rovo: Meet your new AI teammate

Earlier this year in April, Atlassian introduced Rovo, its AI-powered teamwork tool – but initially in closed beta. Now, it’s available to all users! With the broader launch of Rovo, Atlassian remains committed to give teams access to the benefits of AI.

Rovo integrates with various SaaS platforms like SharePoint, DocuSign and Confluence to find relevant information and provide AI-supported answers. This enables teams to access critical information without switching between different tools, saving time and improving efficiency.

Furthermore, Atlassian states that Rovo can support new team members by answering questions about people, teams and available resources and can help with tasks like creating tables, summaries and reports from existing information.

Two final remarks on Rovo: It is expected that Rovo will support up to 50 software connectors in the near future. And: Rovo will only provide content and information to which the individual user has access. Information or documents to which the user does not have access will not be included in Rovo's response.

3 vital tips for working with Rovo

  1. Data quality is key:
  • Data quality is a decisive factor for the quality of the answer provided by an AI. So organizing and structuring your contents in a meaningful way becomes even more essential.
  1. Give the right prompts:
  • Action words should be included in every prompt to make the execution clear and precise.
  • If it is unclear what information Rovo needs to complete a task optimally, it is helpful to ask the tool directly: “What information do you need to complete this task successfully?”
  • For complex tasks, it often makes sense to break prompts down into several parts and gradually guide Rovo towards the solution.
  1. Set success factors:
  • Define measurable goals for the introduction of Rovo and continuously evaluate the results and make regular adjustments to your processes to optimize output.
  • Train users to ensure that tools are used effectively.

AI enhancements for developers

Atlassian’s AI innovations have also extended to the development world. The new AI-powered agents aim to increase productivity in software development through automation and AI. Important AI functions are:

  • Autodev Agent: This agent is integrated directly into Jira and analyzes user stories to generate suggestions for code changes.
  • Autoreview Agent: Performs automated code reviews in Bitbucket and provides justifications for suggested changes to improve code quality.
  • Atlassian Rovo for GitHub Copilot: Developers can use Rovo to instantly get answers and details from projects, documents and requirements from Jira and Confluence in their Integrated Development Environment and generate code suggestions.

All three functions are based on Rovo, which draws its information from Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph. Teamwork Graph is a proprietary data model that gathers information from Atlassian tools and other connected apps, creating a comprehensive view of a company's teams, goals, and workflows to deliver more relevant insights..

Do you want to know more? Then we have good news. The two exciting new features Autodev and Autoreview have just entered an early access program.

Loom and Confluence: streamlining collaboration

Listening to the keynotes at Team24, one could feel that collaboration is at the heart of Atlassian’s mission, and the integration of Loom with Confluence is kind of a testament to that.

Loom is a tool that lets users record and share AI-powered video messages with teammates and clients. Now, teams can record Loom videos directly within Confluence, facilitating asynchronous collaboration. This allows team members to share updates, explain concepts, and contribute to projects on their own schedule, reducing the need for live meetings.

What’s next?

Atlassian continues to enhance its System of Work, a unified ecosystem that connects teams, tools, and processes.

So whether you’re aiming to improve customer support, break down team silos, or enhance development workflows, the new Atlassian features presented are designed to empower your organization to work smarter and in a more efficient way.
